By January 10, 2013February 3rd, 2021No Comments

An annual study by Education Week shows Arkansas public schools are among the best in the nation, ranking the Natural State behind only four other states.

Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia were the only states to have better overall scores, according to the magazine’s study called “Quality Counts 2013.” Arkansas also ranked fifth last year.

Arkansas received a grade of B-minus this year.

Education Week consistently gives Arkansas a solid overall score in its annual assessment. The state’s score of 81.7 increased each year since the state scored 79.6 in 2009. States’ average score this year was 76.9.

Gov. Mike Beebe told Arkansas News that the state should be proud of its high score.

Education Week’s full report is available online. The Washington Post published information about Maryland’s top ranking.
