Four Companies Bringing Nearly 2,000 Jobs to Northwest Arkansas

Major expansions by four companies in the past five months are creating almost 2,000 new jobs in Northwest Arkansas.

The latest of those expansions — 50 new jobs and a $3.2 million investment by American Tubing Inc. in Springdale — was announced Tuesday.

The new American Tubing jobs come on the heels of Serco Inc. starting work in Rogers, toy-maker Redman and Associates picking Rogers, and South Coast Bakery Co. choosing a site in Springdale.

First came Serco, which announced plans in July to offer hundreds of jobs to people who are now processing applications for health insurance at a center in Rogers. There are currently about 1,500 workers at the site after a second shift was added in October.

Redman and Associates announced in October that it will begin making its battery-operated, ride-on toys in Rogers. Transferring that work that’s currently done in China to the Rogers plant will occur over the next three years, creating 74 jobs in Northwest Arkansas.

Redman, which sells its toys at Walmart, became one of the first companies to respond to Walmart onshoring, a pledge by the world’s largest retailer to spend an additional $50 billion over the next decade on U.S.-made products.

In October, South Coast Baking Co. promised to add 150 jobs, deciding to open a manufacturing and warehouse facility for frozen cookie dough at a Springdale site. South Coast is a major supplier of products to Sam’s Club and Panera Bread.

American Tubing, meanwhile, is making a massive addition to the facility where it’s operated since 1976. The 20,000-square-foot expansion will create space for work with aluminum products. The company has made copper tubing for air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and will continue to do that work.
