Six local law enforcement agencies are partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Council to kick off a national campaign to recruit police officers.
Departments in Bella Vista, Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office together have about 45 job openings for police officers. There are also roles available for police dispatchers, jailers and in other public safety careers.
As members of the Council’s Public Safety Consortium, these agencies meet regularly to discuss regional issues and identified police officer recruitment as a significant challenge across all departments.
“Northwest Arkansas police departments are in competition for talent on a local level,” said Fayetteville Police Sgt. Tiffney Lindley who leads the regional recruiting team. “This effort to collaborate and recruit nationally allows departments to share resources to highlight job opportunities and the incredible quality of life in Northwest Arkansas to recruits.”
Four-person teams from Northwest Arkansas will travel to recruiting events in Fort Worth on March 22 and Los Angeles on April 11.
The law enforcement expos, which are organized by Reliant Hiring Solutions, are held nationwide throughout the year. They are often attended by 20 to 35 police agencies from the state where they occur.
“We understand it can be a difficult decision to move across the country to start a career, but the advantages of living in Northwest Arkansas far outweigh the challenges,” said Springdale Police Sgt. Matt Ray, who will be attending both recruiting events. “Northwest Arkansas consistently ranks as one of the best places to live in the country, and we look forward to telling our unique story to recruits looking to build a new and exciting career in law enforcement.”
The police agencies collaborated with the Northwest Arkansas Council to create a dedicated landing page to share information about law enforcement careers and to share facts about living in Northwest Arkansas. The Council’s talent recruitment team offers the added benefit of helping police officers’ trailing spouses and partners find jobs.
