Northwest Arkansas Council member Archie Schaffer was one of three Quality of Life honorees at Thursday night’s Plant A Seed Gala, an annual event put on by the NorthWest Arkansas Community College Foundation.

The gala, held at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, honored Schaffer, Cox Communications and the Rotary Clubs of Northwest Arkansas for their contributions to Northwest Arkansas.

Schaffer, who retired as an executive vice president of corporate affairs at Tyson Foods, has been active with the Arkansas Nature Conservancy, the University of Arkansas’ Agricultural Development Council and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. Schaffer played a role in supporting the development of the Tyson Foods Culinary Learning Center, a facility in the Shewmaker Center for Global Development on the NWACC campus.

There are nine Rotary Clubs in Northwest Arkansas, doing good work throughout Benton and Washington counties. The Rotary Clubs of Northwest Arkansas have supported the Melba Shewmaker Southern Regional National Child Protection Training Center. The training center at NWACC serves a 16-state region.

Cox Communications provides cable television services in 68 Arkansas communities. The company’s support of NWACC is found in its support of the college’s Cox Communications Welcome Center and the Cox Webinar Center.

Special thanks to our major investors for their support of the Northwest Arkansas Council and our work in the region:
